So I figured that Michael Vick would end up somewhere, I am rather amazed that it was Philly where he landed. (If the Phillies can put together another postseason run, the end of this decade will be owned by cheesesteaks.) Again, if you want to play in the NFL, don't fight dogs. Dante Stallworth, this philosophy includes you. If you want to play football in the NFL, don't run people over in your car. These people who think Vick deserves another chance because he has paid his debt to society, they are missing the bigger picture here. If you are in grade school and say, get in a fight, you are suspended from school for two days. After the two days, you are back in class and doing homework, assuming you have learned from your mistake. However, in your home, your parents are reminding you every day that you have to behave in a manner that earns their trust. You still have that debt to pay and make whole. I probably will end up watching his 60 Minutes interview but I think he has a long way to go before he can put this behind him.
It's too bad that a Cubs fan hit Phillies Shane Victorino with a cup of beer as he was making a catch at the wall last night. Ultimately, fans in general will pay the price for his stupidity. Too bad he didn't get his money's worth and make him miss the catch. That would have emboldened more idiotic fans to do even more idiotic things to try to give their team a win. Watch this happen where fans will not be allowed to, gulp, drink beer in the bleachers because of the stupid actions of a true jackass. The sad thing is the people around him were probably patting him on the back, saying what a cool thing it was to do. Whatever. Jackass.
UNLV has a new president, Neal Smatresk, the former vice provost. Interesting to see how this will affect the search for an AD. Let's hope he gets a local who can play the game and get some funds raised and involved in the community.
Some thoughts as my family celebrated the second birthday of my son. I can't believe how fast two years has gone by. The long nights of rocking him to sleep, feeding him with a bib, bathing him in the sink and since he went mobile, forget it. It all has gone by too quickly! It was fun to see him play but I can't believe I have a two year old. You wake up one morning and you're not quite sure how you got here. I love ya, boy, you truly light up my life with everything you discover. I hope you learn that the journey is the thing to enjoy and drink each moment in. "Life goes by pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around once in a while, you just might miss it."
Dare I give my Mountain West Football predictions for this year? Craig Thompson should be very satisfied that three teams are getting Top 25 pub, but the BCS is still a long uphill climb away.
